Vitamin D conference taking place in Abu Dhabi in March

The 3rd International Conference on Vitamin D Deficiency and Its Clinical Implications is set to take place March 21st and 22nd, 2014, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The conference’s main goal is to identify what practitioners and clinicians can do to better recognize and treat vitamin D deficiency. The event is aimed at health professionals.

This conference will focus on vitamin D deficiency, what current research shows, gaps in current research and what research is needed moving forward. Some specific focuses include:

  • Identifying the reasons for vitamin D deficiency in the UAE, Middle East and the world.
  • Discussing the role of vitamin D in diabetes.
  • Identifying and counseling patients at high risk of developing breast and other cancers.
  • Discussing the toxicity of vitamin D.

Attendees to the conference will hear from prominent vitamin D researchers from all around the world. Speakers include Dr. Reinhold Vieth from the University of Toronto, Dr. Roger Bouillon of KU Leuven, Belgium, and Dr. Afrozul Haq from the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute of Abu Dhabi, to name a few.

“I hope that the conference will deliver useful knowledge, stimulate new ideas, and lead to strategic and tactical plans of action that will help solve the problems associated with vitamin D deficiency,” said Dr. Haq, the conference president.

The cost to attend the event is 750 AED, if you register by February 15th.
