New international conference on vitamin D set for April 2014

Organizers out of Queen Mary University of London, UK, have announced a new conference for vitamin D, set to take place April 23rd-25th, 2014, in London.

The title of the conference is “Vitamin D and Human Health: From the Gamete to the Grave.” The conference will focus on the latest clinical evidence for vitamin D on human health throughout the life course.

The conference will be designed to connect clinical researchers and epidemiologists and also educate clinicians and public health professionals. Organizers expect to be able to accommodate around 400 persons.

Confirmed speakers include longtime vitamin D researchers Robert Heaney of Creighton University, Reinhold Vieth of the University of Toronto, Robert Scragg of the University of Auckland, Darryl Eyles of the University of Queensland, and Carolos Camargo and Edward Giovannucci of Harvard. The conference will also feature anthropologist Nina Jablonski as well as Dr. Clifford Rosen of the Maine Medical Center Research Institute, who served the Institute of Medicine and helped set the United States’ guidelines for dietary reference intakes for calcium and vitamin D in 2010.

For a list of all confirmed speakers, visit the conference’s website: http://www.qmul.ac.uk/vitamind/. The organizers will also begin accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations sometime next month. Look for an announcement in the near future.

The conference will take place at Queen Mary University at the Perrin Lecture Theatre in the Blizard Building. There will be announcements on how to sign up for the conference as the date nears.
