    Sabhatti,

We generally say that the most vitamin D you want to take in a day, that is the safe upper limit, is 10,000 IU/day.

Furthermore, most healthy adults need 5,000 IU/day to raise and maintain levels in the healthy range.

If your friend has very low levels and is looking to take a very high dose such as 200,000 IU, then the best thing to do would be to see a doctor and first gain insight from him/her based on your friend’s medical history and then find a dose that is safe, effective and monitored under the supervision of his doctor.

Is it safe to assume that you cannot get any Vitamin D3 in a lower amount in the country you or he comes from?
