Here are the show notes for this episode:

Today, Dr. Cannell interviews Dr. Craig Brown, an ophthalmologist with an expertise in the role of vitamin D on eye health. Dr. Brown has performed over 9000 cataract operations and thousands of ophthalmic laser procedures. Dr. Brown uses laboratory and genetic testing as a foundation when providing effective prevention and treatment protocols for his patients.

In his 30+ years practicing, Dr. Brown began to notice a connection between vitamin D deficiency and the presence and severity of specific eye conditions, including dry eye, macular degeneration and cataracts. This led Dr. Brown to conduct a study evaluating the role of vitamin D status in the prevalence and severity of posterior subcapsular cataracts, a clinically common and visually debilitating form of cataracts.

In this episode, Dr. Brown provides insight into the findings of his study and discusses the current research that has linked vitamin D deficiency with several common eye conditions.

Craig Brown, MD.
