Vitamin D Council Podcast 03: Vitamin D in hospitalized patients

Here are the show notes for our third episode:

The topic of this podcast is vitamin D in hospitalized patients. In this episode, Dr. John Cannell and Vitamin D Council board member, Dr. Sadeq Quraishi, discuss the importance of vitamin D in a hospital setting. Dr. Quraishi also highlights some past research on the relationship between vitamin D status and various outcomes in hospitalized patients.

Dr. Cannell sits down with Dr. Karin Amrein for an interview on her recent randomized controlled trial that examined the effect of vitamin D supplementation on hospital length of stay in critically ill patients.

    Excellent. Thank You. It is valuable listening to the researchers. I have learned a lot about the importance of dosage and its timing also in respect to each individual subject (patient) why it is so important to measure blood levels throughout the study period – where possible.

    Great interviews…The U-shaped curve that Cannell and Quraishi discuss is very interesting; and I agree with Amrein–her results do call for additional studies on a larger subject base. Great podcasts Vitamin D Council I hope these keep on coming.
