New study suggests a birth weight-dependent relationship between vitamin D in infancy and risk of brain tumors

Research published in International Journal of Cancer found a trend towards a reduced risk of brain tumors with higher vitamin D levels in children with lower birth weights, but not higher birth weights.

There are several studies that report a relationship between low vitamin D levels and increased risk of adult-onset cancer. However, there has not been a single study that has looked at the relationship between vitamin D levels and the risk of childhood cancers.
